About AI Legal Council
AI Legal Council is an independent research and working community for the people guiding AI adoption inside law firms and legal departments.
Why this exists
The tools are moving faster than shared operating practice. Different teams are evaluating the same vendor claims, defining similar review standards, and confronting related questions about information, professional duty, and everyday use.
AI Legal Council exists to make that learning more visible and useful. We identify recurring decisions, bring evidence and qualified peers into a structured process, and develop guidance organizations can adapt to their own context.
Who is behind the work
AI Legal Council is being developed by Jeff Linihan and Roger Campbell II through research, conversations with legal professionals, and the design of practical ways to turn shared learning into better decisions.
Roger is a software engineer, educator, and entrepreneur who translates technical systems into practical business decisions. He leads the Council’s research systems, AI and technology analysis, and the design of how findings become useful tools and working experiences.
Jeff is an attorney, entrepreneur, and innovator who brings the legal-market perspective to the Council’s development. He helps shape the questions, tests whether the work speaks credibly to legal professionals, and connects the Council’s research to the realities of firms, legal departments, and the people responsible for adoption.
How we intend to work
Separate what interviews and sources establish from what still needs to be tested.
Develop guidance from real decisions and real use, not abstract claims of authority.
Keep sponsors, vendors, and contributors from controlling the questions or conclusions.
Share interview findings in aggregate unless a participant explicitly approves identification.
What the Council is not
AI Legal Council is not a law firm, regulator, credentialing authority, or standards body. It does not certify tools or practices. Its work is designed to help qualified leaders ask better questions, compare approaches, and make decisions within their own professional and organizational responsibilities.
